Special Prayers

One of the promises that everyone who is baptized or confirmed in the Episcopal Church makes is to “… continue in the Apostles’ teaching, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers. ”  We believe in the power of prayer, both individual and corporate. And in keeping with our tradition of doing everything “with decency and in order”, we set up cycles of prayer. As a praying people, we find great strength in knowing that others join their prayers with ours.

Below are prayers we invite you to make with us.

Prayer Cycle of our Parish:

Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. On this day, we pray [insert daily prayer cycle]. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Special Occasion Prayers

For a Birthday

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servant N. as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen their trust in your goodness all the days of his life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For a Wedding Anniversary

O God, You have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and his Church; Send therefore your blessing upon these your servants N. and N., that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
