Christian Education 2016-2017

Youth Sunday

Every 2nd Sunday of the 2nd month at the 10:00 AM service: friendly music, youth participation, discussion on an appropriate theme, lunch after the 10:00 AM service reception with a short program, a gathering time for parents and youth alike. A great way to meet other families, ask questions, plan events, and hear about what happens at Christ Church!

All families with youth welcome!

Upcoming Sunday schedule: December 10, February 11, April 15 (note: two weeks after Easter), June 10, August 12

Christ Church does not maintain a regular church school program. Instead, all youth are invited to participate in Sunday services, appropriate outreach opportunities, and other events throughout the year. There are drawing and reading resources in the rear of the church for young children.

Adult Education

A weekly Lectionary discussion is a partnered opportunity with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Main Street, two blocks south of Christ Church, on Wednesday evenings at 6:00, the Rev. Nathan Hall presiding.

Book readings and discussions are scheduled intermittently throughout the year. During Lent, in the spring, we read Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow. In Advent, beginning in early December, we will start a new book (yet to be announced). We have had regularly scheduled sessions on Episcopal history and ethics in the last two years but gathering regularly mid-week has proven problematic due to distance, work schedules, and the part-time, priest-in-charge only in North Conway on weekends.

One of our priest associates, the Rev. Bill Cruse, leads a very informative Education for Ministry course study (EfM) which meets online and is an excellent way to learn more about church history, mission, theology, ethics, with a particular grounding in bible study. If you are interested, please contact Richard, our minister (rwbelshaw@earthlink.net), or Joisse in the church office on Fridays (ccsecretary2015@gmail.com).

Christian formation for anyone interested in reaffirmation, baptism, confirmation, or joining/transferring to the Episcopal church from another denomination (or not) are asked to please speak with Richard. Formation education and discussion happens on Sundays at the church depending on need.
